How to Download Yahoo Messenger Without the Yahoo Toolbar

Yahoo Messenger is a chat application that allows you to communicate, send and receive files from family and friends over a network anywhere in the world. This easy to use application allows you to add and edit contacts, swap photos, music and videos as well as customize your stealth settings to decide who should know you're online. You do not have to have Yahoo toolbar to install Yahoo Messenger.

Installing Yahoo Messenge to Windows

1. Navigate to the Yahoo Messenger download page (see Resources).

2. Select "Download Now" and click "Run." The program will download and the installation window will open.

3. Close your program. Then click "Next" on the Yahoo Messenger installation window. Read and accept the terms and agreements and click "Next."

4. Select the location to save your program to and click "Install" to finalize the installation.

Installing Yahoo Messenger on a Macintosh

5. Navigate to the Yahoo Messenger download page (see Resources).

6. Click "Mac" under other versions. Click "Download Now." The Yahoo Messenger .dmg file will download to your desktop.

7. Double-click the .dmg file to mount it and then double-click the "Yahoo Messenger file" to install your program. Read and accept the terms and agreements. Select the location to save your program and click "Install" to finalize the installation.
