As the skin ages, lines and wrinkles begin to appear on the face, especially around the eyes and lips. There are ways to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the face, aside from cosmetic surgery that is expensive and requires healing. Eating a diet full of fruits, vegetables and antioxidants has long been a way to get great skin, as well as drinking water and staying away from alcohol and caffeinated beverages. Facial exercises are also a great way to tone the muscles and skin on the face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and even preventing them in the future. With a few skin care steps, anyone can reduce lines and wrinkles on her face.

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen with at least an SPF 15 or higher
  • Facial moisturizer
  • Foundation with an SPF 15 or higher
  • Antioxidant supplements
  • Water
  • Diet of fresh foods
  1. Step 1
    Sunscreen.
    Sunscreen.

Apply sunscreen to the face and neck each morning before using makeup or moisturizers. Make sure the sunscreen has at least an SPF 15 or higher to offer the best protection. Sun exposure, UVA and UVB sun rays damage the skin, causing sunburn, wrinkles and even skin cancer.

  2. Step 2
    Moisturizer.
    Moisturizer.

Prevent dry skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by hydrating the skin with a creamy moisturizer. Skin that is dry shows lines and wrinkles more prominently than moisturized skin, so apply an ample amount each morning before makeup and at night after cleansing the face. Moisturizer works to lock in water to the skin, keeping it from becoming dry.

  3. Step 3
    Anti-Aging Foundation.
    Anti-Aging Foundation.

Use foundation makeup that has an SPF 15 or higher. Adding protection to the face, in addition to sunscreen, reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as prevents new ones from appearing. Foundation formulas from companies, such as Cover Girl or L'Oreal, offer extra protection, such as collagen or other skin vitamins that prevent or soften wrinkles and lines.

  4. Step 4
    Antioxidants
    Antioxidants

Take supplements with antioxidants or find them in everyday foods to reduce lines and wrinkles. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish and legumes are all rich in antioxidants, which nourish the skin. These antioxidants also neutralize free radicals, which damage the skin from pollution or chemicals in other food that is consumed. Many moisturizers contain additional antioxidants, increasing the benefit.

  5. Step 5
    Drink plenty of water.
    Drink plenty of water.

Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water. Avoid excess alcohol or caffeine, since they work to dehydrate the body of water, causing dry skin. Be sure to eat foods containing antioxidants, and get enough sleep each day to keep skin healthy and wrinkle free.

Tips & Warnings
  • Drink water and eat foods with Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
