Createx is one of the leading names in airbrush paint. Createx is made to be used in all airbrush guns, and comes in the consistency that is normally needed. However, there are many artists who would like to have more variety in their paint thickness. By changing the thickness of Createx, an artist has the ability to shade and create a variety of effects. Not only that, the thickness of the paint is a large factor in how well it flows through a gun. In addition, this thickness also determines the effect it has when it hits the paper.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Airbrush extender
  • Small jar
  • Mixer (or wooden stir)
  • Airbrush paint bottle
  1. Step 1

Pour a small amount of Createx paint into the jar. There should be at least enough to fill the bottom of the small jar, about 2 to 3 cm.

  2. Step 2

Add airbrush extender to the Createx paint. You should add approximately 1/3 of the amount of paint. The two chemicals should immediately react.

  3. Step 3

Stir the solution in a small, clean airbrush paint bottle until the color is constant throughout. Stir the solution till it is about the thickness of whole milk. Add more extender if it is still thicker than you would like.

  4. Step 4

Hook the paint bottle with the solution into the spray gun. Try out the spray on a piece of paper.

Tips & Warnings
  • The correct thickness depends on what you are going to do with the paint and what effect you are looking for. When adding the paint to the jar, remember that there will be more paint at the end of the mix. So add less than you think you will need. When adding, remember that it's always easier to add but almost impossible to take away.
  • Paint with a window open.
