Perhaps you have an old barbecue pit lying around. Perhaps you also want a fire pit or already have one. Instead of purchasing an expensive fire pit screen, make one. The grills from the barbecue pit make good fire pit screens. Make one for your fire pit today.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Barbecue pit grill guards
  • Wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Tape measure
  1. Step 1

Measure the circumference of the fire pit. For optimum coverage, it will be necessary to know the size of the fire pit.

  2. Step 2

Place one grill from the barbecue pit directly over the pit before starting a fire.

  3. Step 3

Determine how the barbecue grill fits over the fire pit. Depending on the size of the fire pit, it will be necessary to purchase or find more grills for complete coverage.

  4. Step 4

Lay the grill over an open fire if only one is needed.

  5. Step 5

If more than one is needed, bind two or more grills. Measure a small length of wire and cut it with the wire cutters. Wrap the wire several times around the edges of two grills. Lay them over the open area of the pit. This will keep large embers from falling on the ground and setting something on fire.
