How to Harden Clay Faster

Are you looking for the perfect summer craft for your kids? Maybe you are a teacher and need a afternoon craft that can be made at home and easily assembled by your kids at school? If so, making clay can often be done overnight and can turn into beautiful creations made by children and adults.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 tbsp of white glue
  • 4 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 2 tsp of lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp of acrylic paint (use any color you like)
  • 2 tbsp of cold cream
  • Large bowl
  • Plastic spoon

    Making Quick Clay

  1. Step 1

    Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Knead for at least five minutes. Wash hands.

  2. Step 2

    Use your hands or a plastic spoon to form figures out of the clay mixture. If too dry add a bit of water.

  3. Step 3

    Spread aluminum foil on a cookie sheet. Place the clay figures on the sheet and cook for at least one hour at 350 degrees.

Tips & Warnings
  • Give children ideas of what how they can design the clay. Some ideas are shapes, people and funny designs.
