Hanging pot racks save space in the kitchen as well as adding a decorative touch. Purchasing pot racks can get expensive, however, making your own hanging pot rack is economical and can be completed in one afternoon. A hanging pot rack can be made out of just about anything that can be hung from the ceiling, so choose something that is individual to your taste. Here's how to make a hanging pot rack out of an old bicycle rim.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bicycle Rim
  • S hooks and Chain
  • Ceiling Hook
  • Drill
  • Tape Measure

    Directions

  1. Step 1

Begin by determining where the pot rack will hang. Do not hang it where it will get in the way of doorways or cabinet doors.

  2. Step 2

Attach at least three large S hooks to the outside of the bicycle rim, spaced evenly, to hang from the ceiling.

  4. Step 4

Determine how low the pot rack will hang. It needs to be just high enough to easily reach the pots. Get three separate sections of chain of this length.

  5. Step 5

Attach one length of chain to each S hook. Pick the three chains up to together and gather all three ends in your hand. Place the end link of each chain onto the ceiling hook in the ceiling.

  6. Step 6

Place as many S hooks as needed around the edge of the rim to hold the pots.

Tips & Warnings
  • If desired, you can paint the rim for a custom look.
