Knowing how to refill an HP96 ink cartridge can save you money on ink. Instead of buying a new ink cartridge, you can buy the refill kit and do many refills for a fraction of the cost.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the ink cartridge into the holding clip if one came with your kit. The cartridge fits into the clip just as it does in your printer holder. You will hear a click when the cartridge is secured in place.

  2. Step 2

Apply the injection sticker to the top of the ink cartridge in the right direction. Compare the injection sticker with the sticker on the ink cartridge so they both match.

  3. Step 3

Insert the first syringe into the center of the ink container. Pull pack on the plunger of the syringe to fill it with ink.

  4. Step 4

Insert the needle into the sticker spot that is marked for the ink container you are using. Pull the syringe plunger a bit and slowly depress the plunger to insert ink into the cartridge.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each color. Each bottle is marked and matched to the dots on the sticker you placed on the top of the ink cartridge in Step 2. Use a different syringe for each color.

  6. Step 6

Slowly remove the needle from the injection site and dap with a rag to wipe up any excess ink that might have oozed out of the hole.

Tips & Warnings
  • Seal each ink bottle after you are done and wash the syringes for next time.
