How to Convert an MPG File to MTV Format

MTV format is a video file format for Chinese MP4 players. If you have one of those Chinese MP4 players and you have some MPG files that you want to watch on it you will need to convert the MPG file to MTV format. Instructions

1. Download and install WinAVI iPod/PSP/3GP/MP4 Video Converter from the ZJ Media website (see Resources). It comes with a free trial but after that you have to pay to keep the program. The 2009 price is $24.95.

2. Launch WinAVI iPod/PSP/3GP/MP4 Video Converter on your computer. Click the "Convert to other format" button the bottom of the screen. It is the button that just has a downward facing arrow on it. Select the files that you want to convert to MTV format. A new window will appear to show you the files that you have selected for conversion.

3. Click "Browse" under "Output Directory." Select the destination on your computer that you want the new MTV files to be sent to.

4. Click the "Advanced" button to make any changes to the settings. You can make changes to things like the video size, the aspect ratio, and quality. If you are just converting the file to use on a MP4 player you should see the best results with the default settings. Click "OK" on this screen to go back to the conversion screen.

5. Click "OK" on the conversion screen to begin the MPG to MTV conversion and the button will change to read "Cancel" while it converts. A progress bar and a "time left" amount will appear on the screen. When the conversion is complete the "Cancel" button will change to "Done" and you will need to click it. The new MTV files will be in the location that you selected.
