All motor vehicles require the proper tires suited to the type of driving. Trucks and SUVs equipped with four-wheel drive are no exception. The are many tires available for a 4x4; it's just a matter of choosing the right ones.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the tire size. This information can be located on the sidewall of the tire.

  2. Step 2

Verify this information with a tire center. Learn what options are available for tires.

  3. Step 3

Decide what type of driving would be most predominant. Deep lugs in the tread are suitable for off road driving and traction in deep snow. If the truck or SUV will travel mainly on paved surfaces with occasional off-road driving, a set of good beefy radial tires will suffice.

  4. Step 4

Determine which brand to purchase. Each brand has its trade offs for ride, noise, and tread wear. Each model of tire is also priced accordingly. Decide what matters most in a tire and make the purchase.

  5. Step 5

Have tires mounted. If issues should arise with new tires, take these matters up with the tire center promptly.
