If your laptop does not have a wireless card built into it, you will need to purchase a network adapter that will allow you to connect to the internet via wireless network. Many such units simply connect to a USB port on your laptop. This is especially true if you have a satellite service such as offered by major cell phone carriers. Once you've purchased one, plug it into your laptop's USB and follow any prompts that appear in order to install the hardware.
