Decorate With Cake Stands

Surprise! Cake stands aren’t just for cakes anymore. If you have one sitting at home, why not use it as a decorative element for the room? Be creative and you'll suddenly find endless uses for a cake stand. Read on for some of my ideas on how to spice your cake stand up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cake stands
  • Flowers
  • Flower tape
  • Stones, rocks or shells
  • Beads
  • Bottles
  • Fabric
  1. Step 1

Decorate your cake stand with a mini bouquet of flowers. First, choose what you want the flowers to be in. I like to use small vases, porcelain cups or glass candle holders.

  2. Step 2

Choose different arrangements of flowers. Try using small budded flowers so they will fit into a tight bouquet. Add water to your bouquet holder and trim the flowers. Make enough bouquets to fit on the cake stand.

  3. Step 3

Treat your cake stand as a candle tray, which makes for a lovely centerpiece. Find an assortment of different size candles. Once you’ve arranged the candles to your liking, you can surround them with stones, rocks, shells, flowers or potpourri.

  4. Step 4

Use your cake stand as a decorative storage piece. If you’re a perfume and jewelry collector like me, why not show them off and arrange them on the cake stand? It can look great on your dresser or bathroom table. Put the bigger perfume bottles near the back and the smaller ones in front. Surround the bottles with fun jewelry or pearl necklaces. You can even add silk fabric to the bottom of the tray for a more glamorous look.

on 6/22/2009 Love the look of these stacked cake stands; it reminds me of the tiered servers from the 1960s. Lots of possibilities with these. :)
