Step 1
Decide whether you want to pay to have your blog hosted, or if you want to create it the free way. Each has their advantages and disadvantages, but I won’t go into them here. You can create your blog using a free service like blogger.com, typepad.com, or wordpress.com. Of the free services that let you create a free blog, I recommend blogger.com. If you want to host a blog you’ll need to find a hosting service that you like and buy a hosting plan and a domain name. If you don’t know anything about hosting, try to find a web host that is blog specific or one that makes it easy for someone to set up a blog.
-
Step 2
Decide what news you will cover. Are you going to be a general news blog? Are you going to blog about whatever appeals to you? Or, are you going to focus on only a specific news subject? There are many things to consider. If this blog is being run by just you, I recommend focusing on a specific news topic. You will be competing with the big boys if you cover everything.
-
Step 3
Set up your blog. This may take some time, especially if you are new at it. Decide on a color scheme, a template, and any graphics you want to use on your news blog.
-
Step 4
Start writing on your news blog. Determine a posting schedule and stick to it. If you want to post daily, do so. Or you can just keep updating your blog when you have something worthwhile to write about. Make quality posts that catch attention and keep on writing!
-
Step 5
Monetize your blog. There are many ways you can make money from your blog. You can place advertisements such as Adsense ads that pay you each time someone clicks on them, place links to affiliate products/programs that pay you a commission when you bring them a sale, or you can sell advertising space. You can even do all three if you wanted.
