Learn How to Get the Green Out of Green Chlorine Hair

Swimming regularly in chlorinated water can do awful damage to your hair. It can even turn your hair green if you are not careful. The best way to keep your hair from turning green is to prevent your hair from absorbing chlorine in the first place. But if you ever find that your hair is turning green from chlorine there are some things you can do to get the green out. In this article I will show you how to get the green out of green chlorine hair.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Prevent getting green chlorine hair by always wetting your hair before you swim in a chlorinated pool. This will keep your hair from absorbing so much chlorine. For added prevention apply conditioner to your wet hair and leave it in while you swim.

  2. Step 2

If you start to get green chlorine hair, get the green out by adding baking soda to your shampoo. Mix some baking soda with your shampoo in the palm of your hand, then wash your hair as usual. Allow the shampoo to sit in your hair for about five minutes before rinsing.

  3. Step 3

Another way to get the greent out of green chlorine hair is to use Tide detergent. Hair dressers have done this for years. Just mix some in with your shampoo and wash hair as usual. Leave in for a few minutes before rinsing.

  4. Step 4

After you rinse your hair you need to use a deep conditioner. Green chlorine hair is usually very damaged and is in need of moisturization to keep it healthy. So be sure and use a professional deep conditioner, or one that is for damaged hair, not just any ole conditioner.

  5. Step 5

Apply plenty of conditioner to your hair and work it through. Make sure you apply plenty to the ends if your hair is long. The ends are what gets the driest and most damaged. Allow the conditioner to sit on the hair as long as possible before rinsing.

  6. Step 6

To really deep condition green chlorine hair, use a grocery plastic bag and put it on your head after you apply the conditioner. Either tie the bag or clip it so it is tight. Allow the conditioner to sit in your hair for at least 15 to 20 minutes. The heat from your head will help the conditioner to penetrate. You can sit in the sun or under a hair dryer, if you are lucky enough to have one, for added heat. Rinse thoroughly.

  7. Step 7

Deep condition your hair as often as possible to keep it healthy and shiney.
