Choose Your City
Based in San Francisco, Craigslist has 570 sites, and it is available in 50 countries worldwide. Find the Craigslist site for your area by going to www.craigslist.org or by typing “craigslist” into a search engine, along with your chosen city. For example, you could type, “craigslist seattle” into Google to find the Craigslist site for the city of Seattle. If you have an online business, you can make money on Craigslist by posting ads in numerous cities worldwide. -

Create an account
Go to the My Account section on the top left and create an account. The benefits of this are that all of your ads will be saved allowing you to republish them easier. You will be asked to confirm your phone number once you finish the process. If you plan on using Craigslist frequently this is a must. If you have multiple lines you can create multiple accounts which will allow you to post even more ads. -

Identify your target market
The key to marketing anything is to identify your target market. It’s important to place your advertisements in categories that will be read by the largest number of people who might be interested in what you are offering. For example, if your product or service is automotive-related, place ads in the automotive categories. You can place your ad in more than one category if it's relevant, but trying to place it in every category would be very time consuming and will probably get flagged as spam. -

Compose your ad
To make money on Craigslist by placing numerous ads in numerous cities, compose your advertisement ahead of time using a word processing program, then copy and paste it into each ad. This will save time and keep your ad consistent, preventing you from omitting any relevant information. Craigslist allows photos with free ads as well, so if you plan to include photos in your ad, place them in a folder along with the document that contains your ad, so you can find them quickly to upload them. -

There are a few companies on the internet that will allow you to make customized ads for posting on craigslist. The great part about these templates are you don’t need to know HTML coding to make great ads. Create picture ads
If you have any creative skills and you know how to use a program like photoshop you can create some very attractive ads for posting. If you are unsure about what a good craigslist picture should look like just do a search of craigslist picture ads to see some examples. There are companies out there that specialize in designing them but with a little practice you can make some nice picture ads yourself. Once you have created a picture ad you will want to host it on a free photo site and then link to it in your craigslist ad. Just do a quick search on how to upload a picture ad to Craigslist. It's basically a couple of lines of HTML code that you need to use. -
