Things You'll Need:
- Wood flooring
- Laminate Flooring

- Laminate Floor Cleaner from Hardware Store
- Large Micro Fiber Mop from Hardware Store
-
Step 1
Wood FlooringThe very first thing you need to do is make sure you have Laminate flooring or Wood flooring. Today, sometimes it is not easy to tell the difference between the two. Even worse, sometimes flooring that looks like laminate is not even laminate or wood. So, first know what type is in your home.
-
Step 2
Next, taking care of laminate and wood is very similar. However, with laminate, if the laminate layer is thin. You must be very careful with any spills. They must be cleaned up immediately. If they are not, the laminate layer will begin to peel up. Therefore, a tougher floor has a thicker the laminate layer. But, no wood or laminate can handle standing water for a long time. So, always clean up spills immediately.
-
Step 3
Once you know if your floor is wood or laminate, go to the hardware store. Not the grocery store. The hardware store has the special commercial cleaners that are pH balanced for your wood and laminate floors. And, they carry the large micro fiber mops that you will use on your floors.
-
Step 4
First, use your vacuum or a broom to clean your floor of loose dirt. Then, spray cleanser lightly over a 6ft.x6ft. square area of floor. Use a mopping action and clean that section of your floor. When that area is dry, lightly spray another 6ft.x Oft. square area. Then clean that section of floor. Keep cleaning a section at a time until you have done all the floor.
