1
Sand the wood frame on the mirror with a piece of fine-grit sanding pad to dull the existing finish. This will allow the paint to adhere to the existing finish properly. Always sand in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
-
2
Clean the wood frame off with a tack cloth. Wipe off all the dust left from sanding so that the paint will adhere to the wood.
-
-
3
Use masking tape around the inside edges of the mirror frame to protect the mirror from the paint. Affix the tape so that it is tight to the edge of the frame. This prevents paint from getting on the mirror.
-
4
Spray the wood frame around the mirror with chrome spray paint. Allow the finish to dry at least four hours and apply a second coat. Wait at least 24 hours before handling the mirror.
-
5
Remove the tape carefully from the mirror. Scrape off carefully any over spray that may have gotten on the mirror with a razor blade.
