Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mince a half pound of lean beef or boneless chicken breast. This is the main source of the homemade cat diet. It counts for almost all of her protein and she'll love it. Unlike humans, remember, this should be raw meat, fed twice per day.

  2. Step 2

Mix 1 teaspoon of olive oil in each meat serving. This should give her a nice supplement of 2 teaspoons each day for a healthy homemade cat diet.

  3. Step 3

Buy several jars of baby food and mix a tablespoon of the vegetables in every meat serving. Of course you could make your own pureed cooked veggies as well, but this is much less work for a homemade cat diet.

  4. Step 4

Give her a six ounce can of tuna packed in water once every two weeks in place of her meat. This can be your easy day on the homemade cat diet.

  5. Step 5

Chop up a hard boiled egg and include it with her meat two times per week. She she eats 14 times each week, the homemade cat diet only includes eggs every once in a while.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you cat is on a low protein diet, talk to a vet for recommendations on how to substitute other foods for meat.

on 8/5/2009 Why didn't I think of this before. My cat has Kitty IBS, which her vet says is caused by an allergy to a protein. Most people never figure out which protein the cat is allergic to so she's been on a Rx diet. Thanks for posting this. It's a good idea.

on 7/7/2009 This is not a well balanced homemade recipe for cats. It is missing several very important ingredients that are critical to feline health...and feeding tuna in this fashion is very bad for cats.

on 7/7/2009 I think feeding this way is very good; alot of cats are allergic to corn and wheat. However, I was cautioned not to feed people tuna to my cats by my vet. Cat tuna has an enzyme added to it to make it digestible, that people tuna lacks. I give vitamin paste too, they love it. I love anyone who caters to a cat like you do!
