Step 1
Organize your data -
Before you begin building your pet service website, organize all the information you have and want to include on the website. Read through the rest of these steps to get an idea of what information you need, but do not start actually building the website until you have everything gathered together. By organizing in advance, you will save yourself time in the long run. -
Step 2
Build a webpage talking about pets you service -
Do you only watch dogs and cats? Do you also watch birds, reptiles and other pets? Make sure to include all names of pets that you service. This will explain to potential clients whether your service is for them and will also give you additional search engine exposure.
If you service many types of pets, you should also include a statement about how you ensure that all pets are safe and that you make sure pets of different types do not injure each other. -
Step 3
Include webpages about pet services you provide -
Instead of just saying on your website that you do pet sitting, go into details about your pet sitting services includes. Do you do only work during business hours? Do you do overnight pet sitting? Will you watch a pet at the pet owners' house? Will you watch a pet during a family vacation? Do you deal with sick pets or pets that need medication?
Make a list of services you provide and include details and limitations of each of these when you build your pet sitting website. -
Step 4
Create a page listing neighborhoods and zip codes you serve -
You will want to build a webpage (or series of webpages) that talk about the neighborhoods you serve. You should include what services you provide for each neighborhood. Make sure to mention if there are differences between neighborhoods. For example, if there are some neighborhoods that you do not service at night or some neighborhoods that require an extra surcharge for picking up pets, make sure to mention this. This will serve a double purpose. First, it will give pet owners from different locations specific information regarding their neighborhood. Second, you will get more search engine exposure. Many pet owners will search for a pet sitter using the name of their neighborhood or zip code. By including numerous neighborhoods and zip codes, you run a high chance of getting top search engine placement for those searches. -
Step 5
Build an "about us" webpage -
Give pet owners confidence in your service by building an "about us" page that outlines your credentials. How much experience do you have? What type of pet sitting experience do you have? Did you get special vetinary training? Are you insured if something happens while you are pet sitting? The more information you give, the more confidence pet owners will have in using your services. -
Step 6
Create a webpage with pet owner pictures and testimonials -
Whenever a pet owner uses your service, ask if you can take a picture of the pet for your website. Also ask the pet owner for a testimonial stating how they felt about your pet sitting service. Ask for their email address and email them your webpage once their picture is online. Pet owners will want to show off their pets and will send this webpage around to friends and neighbors. This is a great way to spread the word about your pet services. -
Step 7
Build a strong pet sitting homepage -
Once you've created all your other webpages, you can combine the best of all your information into a pet sitting homepage.
Your pet sitting homepage should include general information about your services and locations you serve (include major neighborhoods and zip codes) and link to all the other pages you have just created. Include a few pictures of you or your staff together with pets to give a warm first impression, but do not clutter the homepage up too much with pictures.
