Jump Menu

This tutorial will show you how to add a drop down menu of links to add to your website.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dreamweaver
  1. Step 1

    Open Dreamweaver

  2. Step 2

Create a new html document or bring up the html file you want the jump menu to be inserted into.

  3. Step 3

In Design view click on the document where you want the menu placed

  4. Step 4

Move your mouse up to the Dreamweaver
menu bar and select insert, form, then down to jump menu and select.

  5. Step 5

After you select jump menu a popup menu should come up on the screen with the title Insert Jump Menu.

  6. Step 6

n this menu you will see a blank line next to text. In this space type in the word you want to appear in the selection menu. In our case we want it to say google so type that in.

  7. Step 7

After you type it in move down to url. Type in http://www.google.com . Don't forget the http:// part as it is a site outside of your local webpage. Or what professionals in the field call an external link.

  8. Step 8

Under options select insert go button after menu

  9. Step 9

Do not close out the menu

  10. Step 10

Repeat steps 1-8 but using a different name and url for instance yahoo and http://www.yahoo.com

  11. Step 11

After you are done you will click ok

  12. Step 12

Your jump menu should now appear on the page. Preview the file in your browser and you will see how it works.
