Wanna make homemade pie? Here's a simple way to make an awesome flaky pie crust that everyone will love.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • all-purpose flour
  • salt
  • butter
  • water
  1. Step 1

soften the butter, and in a separate large bowl combine flour and salt. Use 1 stick of butter, and 1 pinch of salt for every four cups of flour.

  2. Step 2

Put the softened butter in with the flour/salt mixture and mix well. Then add about 2 tablespoons of water. The final dough should not be sticky, but the dough ball should hang together well.

  3. Step 3

Now, using plenty of flour to keep the dough from sticking, roll out half the dough using a rolling pin, and place in the pie pan. Fill with your favorite pie filling and cook per the instructions for your filling. If you are making a pudding pie, bake the crust for 9-12 minutes depending on how quickly your oven cooks.

And then enjoy a tasty pie.
*you should get 2-3 pie crusts for every 4 cups of flour, depending on the size of your pie dish.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using real butter is the key here - if you want flaky, use butter, not a butter substitute
  • This is also great for making tarts or turnovers
