It is summer time and time to get out the lawn tractor and perform some normal lawn maintenance. Over time problems happen with your lawn tractor and you should be able to repair some common issues with your lawn tractor on your own. Here are some common things that would break in a lawn tractor and how to fix the issues.

  1. Step 1

    The most common repair for a lawn tractor is that it will not start. First time of the season you got to start it and nothing. When this happens you need to start looking at the oil. Drain the oil in your lawn tractor and replace it with some fresh oil.

  2. Step 2

    If changing the oil does not repair your lawn tractor, take a look at your carburetor. Over storage you might have had dirt clog your carburetor. Try to clean it out and if needed, overhaul the carburetor. This is a common issue for first time of the year for your lawn tractor.

  3. Step 3

    Towards the end of a season we tend to get lazy with maintaining out lawn tractors. If you have noticed that your lawn tractor is cutting poorly the repair is to take a look at the blades and ensure that everything is balanced. If not, file down the blades. This will help ensure the blades cut evenly and are properly balanced on your lawn tractor.

  4. Step 4

    If you can get your lawn tractor to start but it will not move, the repair for this is to replace your transmission. This is what moves the tractor and would be the only other cause for it not to move accept for blade belt.

  • Keeping your lawn tractor in working condition is something that most people should be able to do on their own. Common issues require repairs that most people can handle if they have the right tools and motivation to give it a try themselves.
