Things You'll Need:
- Free Website Host
- Good Name for Your Website
- Pictures of your craft items.
- Paypal account if you want to sell your crafts.
- Email address for people to contact you.
-
Step 1
Brainstorm a NameThink of a good name for your free website. This name should either be a branding name if you have some truly unique designs, or a search friendly name that is relevant to your products that customers and search engines will find relevant. It should be easy to remember and look good on any stationery that you may have printed in the future.
If you use my website as an example. I have chosen to call it www.MyCraftBiz.com which complements the free craft information I provide, but BrookysAdvise, while relevant to my name does not clue anyone as to what the website is about. -
Step 2
Go To Free Website HostingGo to a free website host like Free-Websites.weebly.com and sign up with your newfound craft website name.
They have a very easy webpage editor to use and you can add a blog onto your free website as well.
I recommend them because you can also get a free paypal ecommerce module so you can sell crafts and have the money deposited directly into your account.
Another advantage is that they are ad free which is normally the biggest problem with free website hosting companies. As an example of a free website I have put one together in about half an hour which is very simple but totally free and will give you an idea of how your webpages might look. You can check it out at http://florists.weebly.com/ -
Step 3
Website Help InformationChoose help if you are a web newbie and have a good read as to how to create a webpage. Then select a suitable template from the free website templates and construct a few category pages to place your products onto.
This then forms the basis of your free website that you can enlarge upon as time goes on. Remember that nothing is cast in stone and you can always edit a page later. Your site only becomes live when you publish, so do not be afraid to explore all the web creation options.
Enjoy the process and when you have your website ready, hit publish and bingo your site is now live on the internet. Congratulations.
Once you have your website up and running, you can use it as a part of your marketing plan when you are checking out the steps involved in a craft business plan. You will want to do one if you want to get a good insight into your future business adventure.
