How to Decorate a Mediterranean Bathroom

The beauty of Mediterranean decor is in the use of natural elements such as limestone, terracotta and marble with cool colors like blue and green mixed with white. This style will also use wrought iron as an accent. If you want to have a bathroom that will feel as if you're bathing outdoors, than Mediterranean is the design style for you.

Instructions

Creating a Mediterranean Oasis

1. 

   Select wall and floor tile. Choose a natural stone tile such as limestone for the floor and wall. To mimic a sandy beach, choose a beige or cream tile with a little pattern or texture. Use different sizes of the same tile for each use to create a cohesive look.

2. 

   Choose a vanity and other wood elements in white and cream. A wonderful option is to have your sink suspended using an iron vanity, with wood flooring and orange colors to mimic the sun. Select a faucet in the same finish or in stainless steel for a modern, updated look.

3. Choose paint color. Greco-style Mediterranean will use more white, cream and beige. Italian or Provence-style Mediterranean will employ the blues and greens of water and sky. Paint the walls that are not tiled. For a sunset look, use orange and deeper brown in a decorative wall treatment using paint or wallpaper.

4. 

   Use a rain forest shower head. You'll feel you're showering under a waterfall.

5. 

   Replace your tub with an infinity-edge tub, which permits a full tub. You will bathe up to your chin in water, feeling as if you are in the ocean.

6. 

   Use wrought iron accents on the wall for an exotic look.

7. Accent the bath with towels and rugs in rich colors. Use decorative accessories including shower curtain, fresh flowers, seashells and decorative soaps. These accessories can be dark or metal in keeping with the wrought iron theme, or try cups and soap dispensers made of ceramic that mimics the stone in the bathroom.
