How to Make a Gravity Deer Feeder

Some people use deer feeders as bait for hunting, and many nature enthusiasts just use them to attract wildlife to look at. If there are deer in your area that you're looking to attract, a simple homemade gravity feeder may be the way to go.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the angle joint to the length of PVC pipe. The connection does not need to be waterproof or absolutely permanent. A simply attached connection of the joint will work.

    • 2

Find your location for the deer feeder. You may want the feeder close enough to see from your house, but if you install the feeder too close, the deer might become a nuisance. Find a tree to secure the feeder to.

    • 3

Brace the feeder against the tree in the location you have chosen. Be sure that it rests stably. The angle joint should rest against the ground while the PVC pipe runs vertically up the trunk of the tree.

    • 4

Hollow out a depression in the ground at the base of the feeder if you want, to help collect the grain or other feed. Otherwise the feed will scatter over a larger area and drain from the feeder more quickly.

    • 5

Secure the feeder to the tree with the rope. One loop around the pipe and tree should be sufficient to secure the feeder in place if the location is stable.
