How to Stop Microsoft Active Sync

Microsoft ActiveSync is a data synchronization program that allows users to transport documents, calendars, contact lists, photos and music from their Windows-based PC to a mobile device, such as a cell phone, PDA, handheld PC or any other device that supports ActiveSync.

  1. How to Stop Microsoft ActiveSync on a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone

      Connect your Smartphone to your Windows-based PC, and it will automatically start to sync unless the settings specify otherwise. To stop the process, you must be on the Home screen.

      Click "Start" > "ActiveSync" > "Stop." This stops the synchronization.

      Restart the synchronization by clicking "Start" > "ActiveSync" > "Sync."

Tips & Warnings

  • Unless you don't intend to ever use the ActiveSync application, it is recommended to simply stop the synchronization on your phone rather than disabling it on your PC.

  • When you are on the Startup tab on your PC, be sure that you only disable the "WCESCOMM" application. Disabling anything else may cause problems in your PC's operation.
