Step 1
Go to Media-Convert, which is a file conversion website that is free to use and converts between numerous file types, including JPG to PGM.

Pull your JPG file into the Media-Convert converter. Simply click the "Browse" button by "File," locate the JPG on your hard drive and click "Open." Media-Convert will automatically fill in the "Input format" section when you pull in the JPG file.

Choose PGM as your output format. It is listed in the pull-down file list next to "Output format" as "portable pixmap file format (.pgm)."

Name the file in the "Rename file to" box, which is located under the "Advanced settings" part of the Media-Convert screen. To add a name, just click in the box and type the name.

Click the blue "OK" button, which is to the right side of the Media-Convert screen, next to "I accept the terms." When you click "OK," a box will come up to monitor the conversion progress. When the conversion is complete, Media-Convert will redirect you to another screen. Halfway down the screen, there will be a link to the PGM file created. Click on the link and save the PGM to your computer.
