How to Set Up a Bridal Registry

If you're getting married, one of the most fun parts about your wedding is setting up the bridal registry. A registry helps wedding guests know some of the things that you're in need of and reduces the chance that you might get duplicate gifts. Setting up a bridal registry takes a couple of hours, so set aside an afternoon and bring your groom, your mom or some of your bridesmaids, and have fun as you set up your bridal registry. Here's how.

Instructions

1. Choose a store that you would like to set up your bridal registry through. It's a good idea to choose a store that carries a wide variety of products, such as a home store or a department store, so you can put a wide variety of products on your registry.

2. Go to the store and tell the customer service department that you would like to set up a registry. They'll take your name, your groom's name and your wedding date, all which will be used to help wedding guests identify your registry. They will then give you a scanning gun.

3. Look through the store and find some items that you'd like to put on your registry. This is a good time to pick out linens, dishware and other items for your new home together. Make sure you choose a wide variety of items at different price points so as not to alienate your guests by choosing only pricey items.

4. When you see an item you'd like to add to your registry, point the scanning gun at the bar code of the item and press the scanning button. The item will be logged onto your registry for your guests to view and decide if they'd like to purchase that item for you.

5. Return the scanning gun when you are through. Remember to note that you are registered at that store in your wedding invitation somewhere, so guests know where to shop. Stores will sometimes offer you a small card to place in the wedding invitation envelope.
