Adding photos to return address labels gives your correspondence an extra personalized touch. Use photo imaging software to reduce the size of the photo and to adjust clarity brightness and contrast. Desktop publishing tools such as PageMaker and Windows Publisher have templates for designing and printing labels based on your own designs. Sheets of pre-gummed return address labels are sold at office supply-stores and many big-box retailers.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pre-gummed labels for printing
  • Computer and printer
  • Digital camera
  1. Step 1

Design your own return address labels by using digital imaging software to shrink the selected photo to a size small enough for printing on the labels.

  2. Step 2

Add the photo to a desktop publishing template sized for return address labels. The standard label size is 1 3/4 inches long by 1/2 inch tall.

  3. Step 3

Type the desired name and return address into the space reserved for the printed label next to the photo.

  4. Step 4

Set up the template for printing labels by making one column of 20 copies of your return address and photo.

  5. Step 5

Copy and paste the column of 20 labels three more times so you have four columns of 20 labels each, totaling 80 labels. This is the number of labels on a standard sheet of pre-gummed return address labels for printing.

  6. Step 6

Set the vertical spacing between labels at 0 inch and the horizontal spacing at 0.28125 inch.

  7. Step 7

Set the vertical pitch at 0.5 inch and the horizontal pitch at 2.03125 inch.

  8. Step 8

Set the margins at 1/2 inch for top and bottom and 1/3 inch for left and right.

  9. Step 9

Place a test sheet of blank address labels into the printer feed tray.

  10. Step 10

Print the labels, and inspect the sheet to ensure proper alignment of the photo and return address on each label.

  11. Step 11

Repeat the printing process to produce as many labels as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always print a single test sheet to make sure the project is turning out as desired. Don't accidentally waste printer ink and labels by inserting a ream of label sheets only to discover later that something went wrong.
