How to Convert AVI to RM
An Audio Video Interleave (AVI) file is a type of file that contain either sound or movie clips. AVI files can be opened by most of the larger audio playback programs such as Windows Media Player or Apple Quicktime. If you have an AVI file that you need to open with the Real Media Player software you will first need to convert it to the RM file extension. You can convert any AVI sound or video clip into an RM file by using an RM conversion utility.

Follow the link in Resources to "EZ AVI to RM Converter," a program that can convert AVI files to the RM format. Download and install the RM conversion software.

Click on the pink button at the upper-left corner of the window named "Add File." Click the "My Computer" link at the left side of the new window that will pop-up. Find the AVI file that you want to convert in the list of files and folders.

Select the AVI file and then click on the "Open" button to add it to the conversion program. Find the heading at the lower-right side of the window labeled as "Output Format." Click on the drop-down box and then select the "RM" option.

Click on the "Options" button at the top-right side of the window. Navigate to the "General" tab. Click on the "Browse" button to the left of the "Out Path" heading. Click on the name of the folder where you want the converted RM file to be saved. Click on "Save."

Close out of the "Options" window. Click on the "Convert" button located at the bottom of the window. Wait for the conversion process to finish. Then click on the "Finish" button.

Tips & Warnings
You can convert as many AVI files into the RM format at one time as you want. All you need to do is click on "Add File" another time and then select the extra AVI file that you want to convert.
Always make sure to save an extra backup copy of your original AVI file before using any conversion software. If there is a problem during the conversion, such as if your computer shuts down or the program crashes, your original AVI file can become corrupted.
