How to Get to Internet Options

Internet Options allows you to change the settings for Internet Explorer. You can adjust the security and how Web pages load. You can also delete your browsing history and cookies, which are stored bits of information about the pages you visit. There are also advanced settings, where you can customize your accessibility, browsing, HTTP, Java, multimedia, printing and security options. You can also set up a new Internet connection and change the settings for dial-up, VPN and LAN.

      Launch Internet Explorer

      Click the "Tools" menu.

      Click "Internet Options."

      Click each tab to get familiarized with how you can change the options. In the advanced tab, you can check and uncheck each option as desired.

      Close the Internet Options box either by clicking "OK" or "Cancel."

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also get to Internet Options by selecting "Start," choosing "Control Panel," clicking "Networking and Internet" and choosing "Internet Options."

  • If you do not click "OK" after changing a setting, the new setting will not be saved.

  • Be sure you know what options you are clicking and why. You may want to have someone assist you if you are unsure of what is listed under the Advanced tab.
