How to Remove Vista Update Kb940510

Microsoft Vista Update KB940510 is a security update produced by Microsoft for the Windows Vista Operating System that attempts to block a known exploit. The exploit attempts to bypass various procedures used by Microsoft that ensure that the operating system is a legal, activated copy of the operating system. It is one of a number of updates produced by Microsoft that is often automatically installed with Windows Updates. If it causes a problem with your system, it can easily be removed.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click on the Windows Start button in the lower left corner of your screen and select "Control Panel" to open the control panel window.

  2. Step 2

    Select the link for "Uninstall a Program" in the control panel window. This will usually be near the bottom left corner of the control panel. This will open a new list of installed programs in the same window.

  3. Step 3

    Press the button to "View Installed Updates." This link will be in the far upper left corner of the window. When you click on it, the list of installed programs will change to display the list of installed updates.

  4. Step 4

    Find and select "Update for Microsoft Windows (KB940510)" in the list. When you click on this item, a button for "uninstall" will appear at the top of the window.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the "uninstall" button at the top of the window. A window will appear asking you to confirm that you want to uninstall the update, then the update will be removed. When the process completes, you will be taken back to the list of installed updates and the item will be removed from the list.
