1
Decide what size tote you want to make. This one is 24 inches square. Cut the shelf paper to that measure.
-
2
Trim the candy wrappers so that they are all the same size and any unattractive flap edges are removed. If you can't fit them into the 24-inch space, you can trim the length until they fit, or use just the face of the wrapper.
-
3
Begin to peel down the backing. Work in only small sections so that the liner fabric doesn't stick together. Lay a flattened Hershey bar wrapper face down on the sticky side of the liner. Peel back a little more and lay down another wrapper until you have a whole line. Peel down some more and continue to the midline of the plastic liner. This is the bottom of the tote; turn all the candy wrappers in the other direction for the other half so that the tote shows the wrappers right side up on both sides.

You may want to run decorative machine stitching around each of the wrappers. It will give a quilted appearance. Use a quilting foot and drop the feed dogs on your sewing machine so it won't snag the candy wrappers. Work slowly because candy wrappers and shelf paper don't move as freely under the sewing needle as cotton material does.

5
Cut two lengths of grosgrain ribbon to be the handles you sling over your shoulder. Zigzag them on the backside of the shelf liner about 2 inches in from the sides.
-
6
Lay the tote onto the liner fabric, mark and cut out. Place the tote right sides together on the material, handles inside tucked between the layers. Stitch all around three sides. Leave the other side open so you can turn the tote right side out. Hand-stitch the open side shut. Your candy wrapper tote is ready to use.
