Good nutrition after a workout will help you reach your goals sooner. There are many products on the market that work just fine but they can be pricey. Here's a cheap way to get the same effect and it actually tastes pretty good to boot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • whey protein powder (preferably vanilla)
  • gatorade powdered mix
  1. Step 1

First you need to be sure that you're using the right kind of gatorade. Some people don't know that you can buy powdered gatorade just like you would buy kool-aid to mix up at home. The gatorade is usually in a small round container on the same aisle in the grocery store where you would find kool-aid or crystal light. Try to pick a flavor that you think would taste ok with the flavor of protein powder you're going to use. For instance orange gatorade and vanilla protein powder kind of tastes like a creamsicle. Personally, I think all of the gatorade tastes pretty good with vanilla protein powder, it's kind of like a fruity milkshake.

  2. Step 2

Measure out one scoop of whey protein powder to anywhere from one to three tablespoons of the gatorade powder. The amount you use will vary depending on your goals. If you are on a very strict low calorie diet, then go with one tablespoon of gatorade. For those building muscle, go ahead and use the full three.

  3. Step 3

In a shaker cup, blender, magic bullet, or whatever you normally make your protein shakes in, blend the whey protein powder, gatorade, water, and a few ice cubes. Blend or shake it up well and that's all there is to it. Now, you're getting those carbs that you need after a workout without spending a lot of money on those prepackaged PWO drinks.
