For nearly 50 years, the Peace Corps has been serving in countries all over the world. Peace Corps volunteers work in education, agriculture, science and many other fields across the globe. An added bonus of becoming a Peace Corps volunteer is that you can earn 15% off your student loans for each year of service and up to 70% off total.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The Peace Corps has a rigorous application process. People who volunteer overseas must be in good health. Volunteers report that the application and interview process can take several months.

  2. Step 2

Go to PeaceCorps.gov and apply online. Also, make sure you go to a workshop if there is one near year.

  3. Step 3

Take this into serious consideration. Many Peace Corps volunteers do not finish their two-year assignment due to issues such as being unable to live by third-world standards. Entering the Peace Corps is a noble cause, but it is not for everyone, and you definitely shouldn't do it if you're just in it for the money. The Peace Corps will weed out such applicants.

  4. Step 4

If you're serious about joining the Peace Corps, know that you might not be sent to your first choice destination. Also be prepared for several office visits, blood tests and detailed questions about your background. The Peace Corps wants to make sure its volunteers are of sound mind and body before they ship them off to do good in the world.
