Step 1
Memory ConsumptionUnknowingly, sometimes you install softwares or tools which are memory consuming and actually not required for day to day work on your computer. There are many freewares available on internet, so it is natural that you get attracted by those freewares and install them.
Avoid installing unrequited softwares in your computer. -
Step 2
Add Remove ProgramsGo to 'Control Panel'.
There is a tool available in control panel to remove unnecessary softwares.
Open 'Add Remove Programs' tool from control panel. In this tool, you can see the list of all the softwares which are installed in your computer. Select unnecessary software in the list and click 'Change/Remove' button as shown in the image. This will uninstall that unnecessary software from your computer. -
Step 3
Administrative ToolsGo to 'Control Panel'.
Open 'Administrative Tools'. -
Step 4
ServicesIn Administrative Tools, open 'Services'.
This tool will show you all the services which are installed in your computer. There are many services, which are installed by operating system. Better not to touch those services. There are other services which are installed by you or which are not mandatory. -
Step 5
Stop ServiceIf these services are running then it has status 'Started', you can change this status by right clicking that service and sopping it.
-
Step 6
Service Startup TypeThere is another option in 'Services' tool. It is called 'Startup Type'. Services which are not necessary or you want to start it manually after your computer starts then you can change its startup type from 'Automatic' to 'Manual'. Double click service and as shown in image, in 'General' tab change the Startup Type as required.
-
Step 7
Changing startup type of to 'Manual' will tell operating system that you don't want these services to be started when your computer boots up.
This will significantly save your computer's memory (RAM) and it will help to boost up your computer's speed.
