The Spanish Clep Exam is probably the most elusive of all of the Clep exams. Mostly, people who attempt to pass this exam tend to already speak Spanish, and so they feel comfortable in taking the test. There is only 1 test for Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. To pass Spanish 1 you need to get a 50 on the exam, to pass Spanish 2 you need to get a 54 to 60 on the same exam, depending on which college you are applying credit to.

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet connection
  • good study habits
  • Spanish learning software
  1. Step 1

Learn basic Spanish or brush up on your Spanish skills using Annenberg Media's (Learner.org) online Spanish classes. Purchase the book that goes with the course and follow the instructions in detail. It is actually an enjoyable course if you are truly interested in learning the language. It could take 3-6 months to complete the course depending on how much experience you have.

  2. Step 2

Practice Spanish everyday using a Spanish speaking program. This might be a little costly, but Rosetta Stone really works for training you to hear and speak Spanish. Still there are many other programs online, and if you have a friend who speaks Spanish and you see regularly, maybe you can get them to help you prepare for the exam.

  3. Step 3

When you have finished the online Spanish course listed in step 1, you need to start practicing with the REA Spanish CLEP preparation book. It also comes with a CD rom to help you practice the test in the same format that you will take it in. The format to follow is to take a test, practice your errors, take a test, again, and repeat. When your score reaches at least a 70, you will be ready to take the Spanish CLEP Exam

Tips & Warnings
  • Dedicate an hour or two a day to study
  • Even if you already speak Spanish, don't assume you can walk in and take the class. You will still need to have a good understanding of Spanish Grammar.
