Replace the Inside Foam of your Sofa Cushion
Replace the Inside Foam of your Sofa Cushion

After working years in the furniture industry I have had many people stop in and ask how to re-stuff a sofa cushion. This is the easy way to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bad Sofa Cushion
  • Hands
  • Small amount of money
  1. Step 1

The first step is to find out if you can remove your sofa cushion from the frame. If you can it makes it much easier. No matter what in the back of each cushion is a zipper and we need to first unzip that to open up the cushion.

  2. Step 2

Now we need to remove the inside stuffing of the cushion. If the cashion is attached then you need to carefully pull it out. If it is unattached you can turn the cushion inside out and it makes it easier to remove in one piece. Many times your sofa will have a block of foam with natural fabric wrapped around it. Peel away the natural fabric and save it for rewrapping your new foam block.

  3. Step 3

Now we need to carefully measure the inside foam of the cushion (length, width, height) and look up an upholstery company in the phonebook. We need to tell them that we need a sofa cushion that is the measurements above. They can make one for you out of foam for a sofa.

  4. Step 4

Now we need to rewrap our new foam cushion and reinsert it into the cushion cover and then zip it shut and we are ready to sit and watch a movie.
