Hide a Gas Meter

Gas meters are put in the less than ideal places that can leave homeowners frustrated as to how to hide a gas meter without hampering the meter reader's job. Not only is this one way to hide a gas meter, but even if you want to spruce up the front yard, this fountain idea is wonderful. Some are covered with bushes, but maybe you would like to see the front of your house and not have to worry about pruning bushes every year. Here is the solution to the problem.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Large water fountain
Outdoor outlet

Step 1

Cut down any bushes you have hiding the gas meter. You can plant grass seed or make a mulch garden (see resource).
Step 2

Position the large fountain in front of the gas meter. If you are using the mulch garden idea, place the stand for the fountain on the flat ground and surround with mulch. The gas meter should be 12 inches from the gas meter at least.
Step 3

Add the water and plug in. You are ready to run the fountain and hide the meter from the front view of the house. You will still see the meter from the side so that the meter reader can do his or her job.
Step 4

Make the mulch garden instead of grass and you can also add potted plants to the area, which will give it some color.
