A quesadilla can be made many ways, but is usually a tortilla stuffed with cheese or other fillings.
Quesadilla literally translates to "little cheese thing."

I find quesadillas are a great food for unleashing your creativity - the possibilities are endless, and using a quesadilla maker gives you an easy, no-mess way to create the perfect quesadilla.

This is a meal, not a snack.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Electric Quesadilla Maker
  • Tortillas (at least 9")
  • Cheese
  • Meats, Veggies, and nearly any other food you would like to add
  • Salsa / Sour Cream
  1. Step 1

    Ready to go...

Plug your quesadilla maker in to let it heat up. Try to place it where it is not too near a wall or appliance - it can get pretty hot - and this will give you room to work. It should only take 3-4 minutes to heat. Use this time to gather the ingredients you want to fill your quesadilla with.

  2. Step 2

It is best to use tortillas that are at least 9" across - these are called "Burrito Size." Place one tortilla flat onto the plate of the maker - you do not need any oil or butter as it is a non-stick surface.

  3. Step 3
    Fully Loaded

Time to get creative! Definitely add cheese first. If this is all you want to add, please skip to the next step, otherwise start piling on those ingredients. Try a spinach and feta quesadilla or add scrambled eggs and bacon for a morning breakfast quesadilla. I like to add further cheese to the top of my other ingredients.

Pictured here I added pork, zuchini, red/yellow peppers, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes...

  4. Step 4
    Add 2nd tortilla & Close

Place the second tortilla on top and close the quesadilla maker. If you have overloaded it with ingredients as I often do, you may have to press down quite hard to get it to close. DO NOT LEAVE THE ROOM... the quesadilla only takes a short time to make, between 3 and 5 minutes. The quesadilla maker will seal the edges of your quesadilla ensuring no ingredients fall out and make a mess.

  5. Step 5
    The finished product!

Slide the quesadilla onto a plate - it should slide easily. Otherwise you can use a spatula to life the quesadilla onto a plate. This is a meal, not a snack, so enjoy.

Top with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

You will be amazed at how wonderfully tasty and filling this "little cheese thing" is!

Tips & Warnings
  • PARTY IDEA: Have a quesadilla social. Put ingredients out and let your guests make their own creations. Instant Fiesta!
  • To clean the maker after use, just wipe it with a damp cloth while it is still hot, but be careful not to burn yourself.
