Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Orange stick (available in most pedicure kits)
  • Antibacterial lotion
  • Shower Shoes
  • Your own toenail clippers
  1. Step 1

Keep the under side of your toenails free from debris. This will help prevent the growth of any fungus that you may have been unknowingly exposed to. This can be done simply and easily using an orange stick. Orange sticks are available in most nail grooming kits.

  2. Step 2

Be sure that when you are cutting your toenails to use clippers that only you have used. Using someone else's toenail clippers can transfer any bacteria that they have on their feet to your own which may promote growth of bacteria.

  3. Step 3

When your feet are dry and itchy it is usually a sign of athletes foot. Using an antibacterial lotion will help keep your feet moist and germ free which will help derail any growing fungus that can spread from your feet to your nails.

  4. Step 4

When using public showers or sharing living space with others it is a good idea to wear shower shoes or even flip flops when walking around. This will help keep your feet from picking up any fungus or bacteria that may be lurking on or around the place that you walk.

Tips & Warnings
  • A helpful tip is to always use bleach when washing your socks. This will help keep the growth of any bacteria to a minimum.
  • Over bleaching your socks can cause your socks to become worn more quickly, so be sure not to go over board when using bleach.
