How to Balance the Body's pH Level

Save

According to an abstract entitled "The Measurement of pH--Definition, Standards and Procedures," pH is the measure of "hydrogen ion activity" in the body. The best way to determine the body's pH balance is by using pH testing strips, which are available at pharmacies and health food stores. If the body's pH is imbalanced, which means it has a high level of "acid," it's more subject to illness.

The desirable state of the pH balance is more "alkaline." There are different substances that you can either consume or avoid to ensure that the body's pH is more alkaline than acid.

Buy and use "alkalizing drops," which contain hydrogen ionizing minerals. These products are available at health food stores. Generally, drops are added to drinking water. Follow the instructions on the bottle.

Add 1 to 2 tbsp.apple cider vinegar to 6 to 8 oz. pure water. Drink this once or twice per day.

Reduce your dietary intake of red meat, dairy products, eggs, processed sugar and breads that contain gluten, chocolate and table salt.

Reduce coffee consumption. Eliminate the consumption of sodas.

Eliminate your consumption of all artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, saccharin and sucralose.

Eat more more green, leafy vegetables and more citrus fruits.

Sweeten foods with raw honey, raw sugar or stevia.

Cook with olive oil. Use flax seed oil on salads and in other uncooked dishes. Use sea salt instead of table salt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apple cider vinegar with the added benefit of live enzymes, called "mother," are available from specialized health food stores. No two individuals are the same. The pH testing strips will help determine what is appropriate for each person.
  • It's possible for the body to become over-alkaline, although rare. Use pH test strips to establish dietary parameters.
