How to Convert a QuarkXpress Document to InDesign
QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign are two layout programs used for desktop publishing. Often, they are used to produce books, pamphlets, brochures and other print materials. Many of the features in each software program are similar, but each also has its differences. PDF files can be easily created with InDesign because both programs were created by Adobe. There's an easy way to transfer your QuarkXpress document to InDesign if you want to use its specific features or convert a file to PDF quickly.

Open Adobe InDesign and select "File" from the menu at the top.

Select "Open" from the drop-down menu.

A dialog box will appear. Open the drop-down menu next to "Files of Type".

Select "QuarkXpress" from the drop-down menu and find your file by selecting the "Look In" option at the top of the dialog box.

Select "Open" and InDesign will convert your QuarkXpress document.

Review your document to make sure it looks the way you designed it in QuarkXpress. Make any adjustments necessary.

Tips & Warnings
If you open a QuarkXpress document into Adobe InDesign on a different computer than it was originally designed on you may have to upload missing fonts into your font folder on your computer. During the file conversion, InDesign will warn you if any fonts are missing.
