If a wall-mounted bathroom faucet leaks from the sink's spout or from the faucet's handle even when the water is turned off, chances are good that the faucet's washer is the culprit. Even if the bathroom's faucets are rarely used, the faucet's washer can lose its integrity and can even break, resulting in leaks. In addition, sediment deposits left behind when the water dries can inhibit the flow of water through the faucet over time. Thankfully, replacement faucets are readily available and can be installed quickly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Heatproof grease
  • Channel-type pliers
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Coat the rubber stem washer located at the bottom of each faucet with heatproof grease.

  2. Step 2

Insert each faucet valve into the faucet's body, then slide the bonnet nut, sometimes referred to as the "retaining" nut, over each faucet and tighten each nut with channel-type pliers.

  3. Step 3

Position the handle over the faucet's threaded spindle, then insert the handle's retaining screw through the center of the handle and tighten the screw with a Phillips head screwdriver.

  4. Step 4

Position the handle's index cap over the handle's retaining screw, then press the cap into place.

  5. Step 5

Turn the water supply on to complete the installation process.
