How to Create Email Ads

Email marketing is one of the most cost-effective forms of advertising. It is essentially free and since your potential customer has opted into a list presumably because he is interested in your products, it is also targeted. Start an account with aWeber or GetResponse (see link in References). These are 2 of the biggest auto-responder companies. It is better to use these rather than using software on your computer because they have steps to ensure that your email isn't flagged as spam and software that ensures delivery.

Create a list. The most important thing to do is to build up your opt-in list. You can do this by putting an opt-in form on your website. Put it in a place that is easy to find. The top left corner is usually the best place, as that is where most people look immediately. Make sure to keep the form simple and only ask for a name, email and optional phone number. People don't want to give up too much information.

    • 3

Have a clear submit button. Don't have it just say "Submit." Type something like "Improve Your Life" or "Make More Money." Share your privacy policy on the same page. Just a simple statement that promises never to sell information to spammers should be enough.

    • 4

Give away something. Your visitors come to your website looking for something--whether it is an actual product or information they are coming to you to get. It could be information in the form of an e-book, a video, an online course or a free sample of your products. In exchange, they must give you an email address and name. This will allow you to build a relationship with this user and hopefully turn him into a client.

    • 5

Personalize your emails. Emails that have a first name in the subject title are generally opened and read more often than those that are not personalized.

    • 6

Don't send emails too often. The top reason people opt out of email lists is because they receive them too frequently. Usually 1 to 2 emails a week is plenty if you want a long-term subscriber.

    • 7

Create value. The 2nd biggest reason people leave a list is they feel that they are not getting enough out of the newsletter. Offer discounts and opportunities unavailable to non-subscribers and make sure your information is short and to the point. Remember to keep your information focused.

Write compelling copy. People are after 1 of 2 things from you. They want pleasure or they want to get rid of their pain. You must show them emotionally how you will either give them pleasure with your product or service or how you will help to ease their pain.
