Instructions

    • 1

Go through your old clothes. Throw out those that smell bad or have stains on them, but put the ones that are in good condition (but may not fit or are out of style) in another pile.

    • 2

Fold the clothes and put them in bags. It makes it easier for the donation center if you sort them by type, such as children's clothing, women's clothing, and so on.

    • 3

Shop for new items. If you're feeling extra charitable, go to the store and pick out some new items to donate. Baby clothing and children's clothing are always needed.

    • 4

Go to Katrinavictims.org and look under "How to Donate." There will be several people asking for clothes in specific sizes. You can choose to send the clothing directly to them if you wish.

    • 5

Call your local Red Cross Chapter and find out where you can donate locally to Katrina victims. You also can contact Direct Relief International to find out where you can take your items so they will be sent to Hurricane Katrina victims.

Tips & Warnings

  • Baby supplies and diapers are always needed.
