Get the Water Out of A Coconut

Here is a simple easy and effective way to get the water out of a coconut in just a few easy steps using everyday household items.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hammer
  • Thick nail or thick screw
  • Large Bowl
  • Coconut
  • Glass
  • Sieve
  1. Step 1

Place the coconut with the three black spots or eyes facing up into the large bowl. Make sure that the coconut stays with the three black spots facing up in the bowl when you remove your hands.

  2. Step 2

Get a thick nail or thick screw and place it firmly on top of one of the three black spots of the coconut.

  3. Step 3

Next get your hammer and gently tap the nail into the spot. When it has gone through the shell of the coconut take it out and do the same to the other two spots.

  4. Step 4

Now get your glass and put the sieve on top of it.

  5. Step 5

Carefully remove the coconut from the bowl without tilting it!

  6. Step 6

Now place the glass with the sieve on top of it into the bowl.

  7. Step 7

Take the coconut and place it upside down into the sieve and pour out the water until it is drained completely.

  8. Step 8

Take the sieve off the top of the cup and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • When making holes in the coconut you might want to do it on the ground to protect your counter or table.
  • The coconut water probably isn't cold so on a hot day it's best to refrigerate it and then drink it.
