Things You'll Need:
- Borax
- Fruit
- Sugar
-
Step 1
First, take and get fruit that has a high water content, example ... watermelon, strawberries, raspberries. The best that has worked for me is the watermelon.
-
Step 2
Next, take a 6 inch piece of rind, with approximately 1 inch of red watermelon still attached. Place this piece on a container that can be thrown out after use.
-
Step 3
Next, sprinkle the Borax all over the piece of watermelon, make sure that it is well coated. Then sprinkle a bit of sugar over the top of the fruit and borax. Because of the high water content of the melon, the sugar and borax will be mushy, you want it this way!
-
Step 4
Lastly, place this piece right in the path of ants. It may take a few minutes for them to find it, but when they do they will swarm to the fruit. The smell of the fruit will help them find it, and keep them there for a long time. In about three days there will no longer see any more ants. If you do, try again, but add extra borax to the fruit.

on 7/15/2009 This is an interesting take on the traditional borax and sugar ant traps. Fortunately, I was able to get rid of mine just using the traditional method, but I think I like this one better...
