Get Google Alerts Emailed to You

Google alerts are an easy way to stay up-to-date on subjects you're interested in. You can create a Google alert to be emailed directly to you. By doing so, you won't have to repeatedly search the Internet for the topic. You can monitor a developing story with Google news alerts or keep an eye on the competition by tracking a business competitor. Read on for how to get Google alerts in your email inbox.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To get Google alerts sent to your email go to google.com.

  2. Step 2

In the top left corner click "more."

  3. Step 3

You won't see Google Alerts in the drop down menu, so select "even more."

  4. Step 4

On the More Google Products page click "Alerts."

  5. Step 5

Enter one or more search terms or keywords in the box. Anytime the keywords appear in new web content Google will notify you by email.

  6. Step 6

Choose what type of Google alert you want to receive. Google news alerts are news stories picked up from newspapers, tv and radio station websites, and other media sources. If you pick comprehensive any time your keywords appear in new blog posts, news stories, or any other web content Google will email you an alert.

  7. Step 7

Pick how often you want to receive Google Alerts. Choose "as it happens" if you want to get live Google alerts. This is particularly helpful if you want to get Google news alerts on breaking news or a developing news story.

  8. Step 8

Type your email address into the box.

  9. Step 9

Click "create alert." (Don't stop yet, your alert isn't confirmed yet!)

  10. Step 10

Log into the email account where you wish to receive alerts.

  11. Step 11

Open the Google alerts email. Click the web link to verify that you want to receive the newly created Google alert.
