Summer is the highest time of the year for home burglaries and break-ins. To make your home safer, than are several things you need to do - especially if you are going on vacation and don't have a home alarm system.

  1. Step 1

    If you do not have a home alarm system, there are several things you can do that will instantly make your home safer. If you are going on vacation, ask a friend or neighbor to collect your mail and/or any other deliveries for you everyday.

    Ensure that all your windows and doors are locked - deadbolt locks are best.

  2. Step 2

    Putting up motion sensor lights outside your home and lights inside your home on a timer will make your home safer.

    Trim bushes and scrubs to make your windows more visible.

  3. Step 3

    If possible, leave a car or truck in your driveway. If you will be gone for several days or more, ask a friend or neighbor to reposition it every three or four days. This will make would be thieves think someone is home thus making your home safer.
