Step 1
Online there are hundreds of sites that give you the possibility to download some high quality schematics in just mere seconds.
-
Step 2
Choose Schematics Plans:
When you begin you first must know what size you should consider to build the dog house. There are literally hundreds of places online to download the schematics for your project. If the kennel is too small or too big the dog might get frighten and not use it. Make sure the pet has a lot of space to move around in the house and not be cramped up in a corner. -
Step 3
Choose Safe Materials:
Make sure you use durable materials that will stand up to weather. Make sure the materials are safe and will not cause your pet any harm. Pets love to chew on things so consider this a serious step. When using nails or screws in the construction of the dog house, make absolutely sure they are driven accurately. This is to be sure your pet is not harmed by puncture. -
Step 4
Raise Platform When Building:
Raise the platform off the ground to create venting under the floor. This will also preserve the floor from rotting quickly.Ventilation is important for the health of your dog and to dissuade pests from invading its home. -
Step 5
Install A Dog House Door:
One thing that needs to be considered is having a door that will open and close by itself. There are doors on the market that will solve this problem. If your set your mind to it you can build these doors yourself. The purpose for a door is to keep out weather and keep them warm. -
Step 6
Consider Building A Porch:
Design a porch or platform to give the pet a place to lay outdoors. This will give them an option to stay inside or outside. -
Step 7
Add More Ventilation:
When considering ventilation there are ways to add this to your project. Drill a few nickel-sized holes in the walls under the eaves, this should be sufficient. Install a wind block inside the house so the dog can use the heat of its own body to warm up the area if it is really cold and windy outside. -
Step 8
Any good plan for how to build a dog house will have a house big enough so that a partial wall will allow the dog to escape the elements.

on 7/21/2009 I like that fact that this is not just a crude dog house but the dog's safety and comfortability is kept in mind! 5 stars
